Between terms.

A period of time between academic terms.

For several years I taught at a small, rural college that offered a January interterm. Each January, I took students to live in and rehab apartments in the 14th Street corridor of Washington DC […]. On one of these interterms, I discovered that some of the students had been so scared by their first exposure to urban poverty that they had spent the first evening moving all the furniture in the apartment to barricade the front door.
