over-record

To record excessively or too frequently.

To record an excessive number of songs.

To erase by recording over the same portion of a cassette etc.

A portion of film that is erased by recording over it.

In an off-line editing session, an edit is often made longer than it will be in the final show. The following edit will usually erase the tail of such an edit. The erased portion of the edit is called an overrecord.
