name
A diminutive of the female given names Sophie or Sophia.
I’m Soph, not Sophie. When I order a coffee from Starbucks and I tell them my name is Soph, they reply with ‘Is that Sophie?’ When I sign off an email ‘Best Wishes, Soph’ and the reply is ‘Thanks for your email, Sophie’ – I don’t recall saying Sophie, so STOP. I find it’s more approachable and friendly and makes me feel good.
