To continue to exist, last or endure, especially for a great length of time.

Saying that a trait has an evolutionary history is to say something stronger than the fact that it has perdured across generations. Humans have probably believed that water is wet for a very long time, although this belief has no evolutionary history.

To exist in such a way as to possess distinct temporal parts (in perdurantism).
